connection over midi cables

james Apr 19, 2015 10:38AM CEST

I just received a roland usb interface for the ipad which successfully transmits midi from lemur to ableton, but can I use the lemur pc app to edit upload/download to lemur without any network connection?

Also, can any osc messages be sent over a wired midi connection?, mostly because it's easier using names in max rather than cc numbers, or re-assigning midi in ableton for each new project.

I really don't want to have wifi beaming in my face for hours and unfortunately I was unlucky to receive one of the "touch the screen and wifi drops drastically" bad apple ipads. I'd love to have a solid usb direct connection, but I'm not trying to jailbreak it. Any help much appreciated, I can't afford a new android tablet. cheers.

Running all updated apps on xp, loopbe full version, roland um-one mk2 on ipad retina connected to digiface midi.

Forgot to mention that the ipad is a wifi only version.

I found this article

Anything new happening in this area? Direct usb tethering similar to touchable or osc over midi somehow? Sorry last post.

We're looking into USB tethering, although I can't promise if and when this will be released as a feature.

Lemur Editor is currently Wi-Fi only.
